Condolence From: David DePaolo
Condolence: This is what I said at my dad's mass:

It's a beautiful morning. A beautiful day to celebrate a beautiful life.

My Dad was more than a great father, husband, grandfather, friend and war hero, he was more like a superhero, larger than life, able to beat the odds time after time. He was blessed and we were blessed to have him with us for the journey.

He defined the greatest generation. The perfect role model, honorable, loyal, supportive, and fun. What a great life, making it to 95 - just amazing - but just a few months ago I thought we would have him around much longer.

We took his car keys away about 5 years ago when he was pulled over doing 70 on the Boulevard right out here in front of the church. I'm pretty sure that was more painful than many things he endured. His independence was gone.

He loved life and family and friends and he proved to us time after time that he was incredibly tough.

A fall and a broken hip earlier this year ended up being too much for a guy his age. He made it through the surgery fine a few months ago, which again was a miracle, but recovering we knew would be tough.

I have so many people to thank that were involved with his care, everyone was wonderful, but above all, thank you Deb, you are an angel.

He had a great run. We love him, he will walk with me every day. We have a torch to carry.

Thank you all for coming and God bless you.
