Alexander William Sims, “Bill”, age 87 of North Tonawanda and Ranchero Village, FL, passed on July 10, 2012 after a long illness. Bill was a former member of the Lutheran Brethren Church in North Tonawanda. Born in Niagara Falls, He and his Dad owned and operated Sims Mobil Service Stations. He also worked for Several Dunlop Tire Stores, where he was the manager. Bill loved the family cottage on the Burma Road, Lake Huron, Canada where he spent time with his family during the summer since he was a child. His memberships include the Elks Lodge #860 and the LaSalle Masonic Lodge #1049 F. & A.M. Bill loved a good Manhattan after a long days work.
Husband of the late Helen M. (Moore) Sims. Beloved father of Barbara G. Morse of North Tonawanda, Susan A. (Jason) Jamieson of St. Petersburg. FL, Shelley L. (Dale) Elliott of Ontario, Canada and Dale W. Sims (the late Diana) of Niagara Falls. Proud grandfather of Eric, Dennis, Jeff, Drew, Curtis, Brent, Christopher, D.J., Justin and Cody. Great grandfather of three granddaughters. Cousin of Audrey Briggs. Loving friend and companion of Helen Furman of North Tonawanda. Dear friends of Robert Morse, Jill and Judy Furman.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be on Thursday (August 2, 2012) at the Brunner Funeral Home, 156 Robinson St., North Tonawanda from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. Members of Elks Lodge 860 will have services at 11:30 followed by at time to share a memory of Bill with his family. Bill will be laid to rest at 12:30 p.m. with Military Honors at Acacia Park Cemetery.
