Amy Jo Kissel, 49, lifelong resident of North Tonawanda, N.Y., passed away Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, after a long illness at DeGraff Memorial Hospital. Born in North Tonawanda, NY, she was the daughter of Diane Nola (Eberz) and Raymond Philip Kissel of North Tonawanda, N.Y.
Amy graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Buffalo State College as well as graduating from North Tonawanda High School in 1979.
Her passion was hunting for and collecting vintage Swarovski glass beads at local antique shops including Antique World. With her many-colored and faceted beads she created beautiful and intricate necklaces, bookmarks and garlands. She also enjoyed knitting sweaters and making her own clothing. Throughout the years she also spent many hours bowling, playing cards daily with her father, going to bingo, and talking long walks throughout her neighborhood.
In addition to her parents, Amy is survived by her sister Linda (Robert) Collignon as well as brothers Raymond (Trina) and Joseph Kissel; dear aunt of Max Collignon and Hannah, Isabella and Julian Kissel. She is also survived by lifelong friend Mary Oliveri of North Tonawanda.
Amy will be missed for her cheery outlook and disposition as well as a constant determination to overcome her many medical difficulties.
The family wishes to bestow special thanks to the many doctors and nurses at DeGraff Memorial Hospital who helped her throughout the years.
Friends may call Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Brunner Funeral Home, 156 Robinson Street, North Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10 a.m. Friday at St. Jude the Apostle Parish, Niagara Falls Blvd. and Melody Lane, North Tonawanda.
Memorials in Amy’s name may be made to DeGraff Memorial Hospital Volunteer Fund.
