Clara A. Simmons

Clara Agnes Simmons, age 94, at DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Clara was the oldest member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. She was on the Alter Guild at St. Mary’s on the Hill, in Buffalo. Clara was a kind and gentle person and her life revolved around her family. She retired from the Singer Sewing Machine Company where she demonstrated and taught sewing. As a seamstress, she made all of her own clothing and also made clothing for her grandchildren. She was an avid gardener and a loving great great-grandmother to all four generations of grandchildren. Wife of the late Edward Simmons. Gracious and loving mother of Richard D. (Marlyn) Simmons of Mechanicsville, NY and Joyce (Richard) Meckes of North Tonawanda. Sister of Eva Eckman and Emily Brown. Proud grandmother of 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 7 great great-grandchildren Also surviving is her dog, Rusty No prior visitation. Memorials may be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in North Tonawanda.
