Doris May Rexford (nee Stookes) age 86 of North Tonawanda on Sunday (June 1, 2014), unexpectedly.
Beloved wife of the late William E. Rexford. Loving mother of Anne M. (the late Gary) Timblin, June (David) Leffler, Michael (Susan) Rexford, Rita (Joseph) Zinni and Patrick (Regina) Rexford. Dear sister of June (the late Murray) Cameron and Janet Russell of England. Also survived by 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends received on Thursday from 4-8 P.M. at the Brunner Funeral Home, 156 Robinson St., North Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday morning at 9:00 at St. Amelia R.C. Church 210 St. Amelia Drive, corner of Eggert Rd.
Doris was born in Exeter, England and immigrated here in 1946 on the Queen Mary. She was one of the first “War Brides” to arrive in Buffalo after World War II. She was welcomed by Mayor Dowd of Buffalo. An accomplished golfer, she was a member and past officer of the Ladies Golf League of Deerwood. Memorials may be made to Camp Good Days and Special Times.
