Elizabeth Duguay, age 77 (nee Mudra), of North Tonawanda, suddenly at home. Betty was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Parish. She was an active member of the Sunrise Exchange Club and a former member of the Tonawanda Council of the Arts. Daughter of the late George and Sophie Mudra. Sister of the late George Mudra, Mary Murrow, Jack Mudra, and Steve Mudra.

Beloved mother of Michael Duguay of San Francisco, CA, Mark (Andrea) Duguay of North Tonawanda, Matthew (Laura) Duguay of Parker, CO, Mitchell Duguay of Lockport, and Marshall Duguay of North Tonawanda. Dear sister of Julie (Sam) Albert of the Town of Tonawanda and sister-in-law of Dick Murrow. Proud grandmother of Daniel (Sabrina), Bernadette, Jordan, Sophie, Zachary, and Kalyn. Also surviving are seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

As a child, Betty attended St. Mary’s Russian Orthodox Church where she was a very active member of the youth group. She enjoyed drawing, painting, calligraphy, dancing, watching movies, volunteer work, cooking, playing cards, family and friends, and summer days along the Niagara River. Betty was a graduate of Kenmore West High School in 1951 where she excelled in art. She married Theodore Duguay on January 26, 1952. She taught religious instructions at Ascension R.C. Church where she was recognized as “Teacher of the Year.” Her love of the arts led her to work with the Tonawanda Council of the Arts for many years. She also worked for several years at Clancey’s Stationery and Office Equipment Store at the Mid-City Plaza. She was actively involved with the Sunrise Exchange Club and worked extensively with their Student of the Month program.

Friends received by the family on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Brunner Funeral Home (692-3841) 156 Robinson St. North Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday morning at 10:00 AM. at St. Jude R.C. Parish, 880 Niagara Falls Blvd., Interment will follow at Elmlawn Cemetery.
