Kathleen Marie Walder of the Town of Wheatfield passed away on Sunday May 19, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and friends at Niagara Hospice House. She was born on July 1, 1956, to Ruth and Raymond Walder. She attended Niagara Wheatfield High School, Mt. Aloysius Jr. College of Cresson, PA and received a master's degree in occupational therapy from D’youville College in Buffalo, NY. Kathleen was a strong supporter of the American Occupational Therapy Society since 1975, and a member of the N.Y. State O.T. Association. Ms. Walder was employed by Niagara-Orleans BOCES for 30 years where she enjoyed working with the children daily. In 2006 her co-workers selected her as the recipient of the Related Services Employee Recognition Award. In addition, she was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of North Tonawanda and a past board member of Equi-Star Therapeutic Riding Center in Burt, NY. She was predeceased by her parents, a brother in-law, Duane Holbrook, a nephew, Christopher Holbrook, and the love of her life for 29 years, Robert Michalek. Her survivors include her sisters, Judith Holbrook of Medina, and Margaret (Walt) Campbell of Lockport, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Kathleen enjoyed crafting and making gifts for others. She also loved spending time with her friends and family at Long Beach, Canada. Calling hours will be 3:00-7:00pm at Brunner Funeral Home, 156 Robinson St., North Tonawanda on Thursday, May 23, 2024. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Jude the Apostle Parish, Friday, May 24th at 9:30am at 800 Niagara Falls Boulevard, North Tonawanda, NY 14120.
